MeCab の標準辞書 mecab-ipadic に含まれる人名データ（Noun.name.csv）から「表記」と「読み」の 2 項目だけを取り出し、同じ表記の行をまとめ、辞書のコスト順に並べ、文字コードを UTF-8 に変換したもの（/dict/names.v1.txt）を配信しています。品詞・コスト等の他の項目は含めていません。「一般」に分類された人名は使っていません。読みそのものは書き換えていません。つまり、辞書を改変して再配布しています（ライセンスは改変後の配布を認めており、その条件として、著作権表示とライセンス本文を同梱すること、責任を負わない旨の条項（NO WARRANTY）を常に添えることを求めています）。

配信している辞書ファイルの先頭にも、同じ著作権表示と COPYING の全文をコメントとして含めています。
